Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle
Bhubaneswar – 751 001
Sub: Repairing/maintenance
and construction of boundary wall of Sahadevkhunta Postal Colony and Divisional
Office Balasore
Respected
Sir,
This is to bring to your kind notice
that during the CWC
Meeting of AIPEU, Group-C, Odisha Circle held in Balasore from 21.09.2018 to
23.09.2018, we had organized “Swachhata Hi Sewa” programme on 23.09.2018 in
Sahadevkhunta Postal Colony, Balasore. The Circle Union team became surprised
to notice the dilapidated condition of all the 40 (16 Type-III and 24 Type-II)
staff quarters without civil and electrical maintenance for years together
including the unhygienic condition around.
Most
regretfully, the colony is adjacent to the office of the SPOs, Balasore
Division which is seen to be situated inside a garbage yard. Both the Postal
Colony and the Divisional Office are surrounded by marshland full of wild
plants and bushes especially herbaceous plants, the breeding heaven of
mosquitoes.
While
both the Divisional Office and the Postal Colony have no boundary walls, there
is a public road inside the colony area. Concrete slabs are continuously
falling from the roofs of the staff quarters posing threat to the lives of the
occupants. While our team was undertaking the cleanliness drive, we witnessed
such occurrences twice within a period of one hour only. Some photographs of the quarters, Divisional
Office and surroundings are submitted here with for kind perusal.
Under
the circumstance, we would like to sincerely request you to kindly consider the
following aspects to protect the lives of the staff and their family members
residing in the Postal Colony and to save the Govt. property.
1. Undertake immediate survey and allocate
sufficient fund under building maintenance head for construction of boundary
wall of the Divisional Office and Sahadevkhunta Postal Colony, Balasore.
2. Allocate sufficient fund to undertake civil and
electrical maintenance work of the Postal Colony, Sahadevkhunta.
3. Direct the SPOs, Balasore Division to undertake
a special cleanliness drive to fill the low wetlands rooting out the herbaceous
plants making the environment hygienic.
Awaiting your kind cooperation, Sir.
With regards.
Attached : As above
Yours
faithfully,
(BRUHASPATI SAMAL)
Circle Secretary
