Chairman, NFPE, Odisha State CoC meets Chief PMG, Odisha Circle on 15.05.2019 to discuss on the ongoing Indefinite Strike by the Postal JCA (NFPE & FNPO) of RMS ‘N’ Division Cuttack

After thorough discussion with Com. Dusmanta Sethi, Circle Secretary, AIRMSEU, Group-C and Com. Ashok Mohanty, Circle Secretary AIRMSEU, MG & MTS, Odisha Circle and taking the stock of the situation, Com. B Samal, Circle Secretary, AIPEU, Group-C, Odisha and Chairman, NFPE, Odisha State CoC, in order to find out a negotiable solution met the Chief PMG, Odisha Circle today (15.05.2019) at 10.45 AM in his chamber and discussed in the presence and participation of Assistant Director (Building) on the ongoing Indefinite Strike called by the  Postal JCA (NFPE & FNPO) of RMS, N Division, Cuttack continuing since 6 AM on 14.05.2019 against arbitrary and whimsical shifting of the office of the SSRM, RMS ‘N’ Division from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar.

On behalf of the Staff Side, we proposed / discussed as follows.

1.    The Chief PMG was proposed to make arrangement to take over the 2nd floor of the office of the SSPOs, Cuttack City Division which has been occupied by the BSNL authorities and kept locked and unused.  The BSL authority has agreed before our staff members to vacate the building if approached by our administration. Or else, arrangement may be made in the 1st floor of Cuttack RMS to run the Divisional Office.

2.    Immediate action was requested to call the RMS leadership for a fruitful negotiated settlement since different RMS sections have already started participating in the Indefinite Strike and the entirety of RMS workers all over the Circle may join within a day or two.

3.    When the entire RMS wing in Odisha Circle will continue with Indefinite Strike, it will be the moral responsibility and  duty of other affiliated unions under NFPE and FNPO in Odisha to extend solidarity and may join in the Indefinite Strike, if situation warrants.

4.    We   made it very clear that we don’t want to do any harm to the interest of the Department except expecting an early solution and restoration of work in RMS in such a time when the sorting / dispatch works have been badly affected due to devastation caused by the sever cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ on 03.05.2019 and the members of public are seriously registering their complaints before the Post Offices putting undue pressure on the staff members for non-receipt of their important documents now in transit.

The Chief PMG gave a patient hearing and reacted / replied as follows.

1.    He agreed to the proposal of writing a letter to the BSNL authority to handover the 2nd floor of the office of the SSPOs, Cuttack City Division with direction to the SSRM, RMS ‘N’ Division Cuttack for negotiation with the former. It will be fine and all problems will be solved and there will be no need to transfer the Divisional Office to Bhubaneswar provided the BSNL authorities vacate, he told. The Asst. Director (Building) was instructed to issue the letter today (15.05.2019) and intimate the Circle Secretaries.

2.    To our second proposal, he replied that there is not enough space in the 1st floor of Cuttack RMS Office to run the Divisional Office of RMS ‘N’ Division Cuttack.
3.    His reply remained very much categorical that under no circumstances the Divisional Office of RMS ‘N’ Division Cuttack would function in a rented building.

4.    For arranging a meeting for fruitful discussion with RMS leadership the Chief PMG told that he has no objection in this regard and his door is always open for discussion. He also told the Asst. Director (Building) to contact with the RMS leadership and fix the meeting by evening today (15.05.2019).

Before leaving the chamber, the Chief PMG suggested to think the proposal of shifting rationally and come forward for discussion with every positivity.
