Attention: Asst. Director (Mails) / COVID-19 Control Room
Sub:-Proper sanitization of Post / RMS Offices,
Hubs / Depots etc to contain spread of COVID-19 - reg
Respected Sir,
Expressing
deep concern, we do regret to intimate you that though we have been writing continuously
to Circle administration in connection with COVID-19, the action taken report
even on a single issue has not yet been intimated to the Union in any manner
till date. While the staff members are working with every apprehension of being
contaminated with the deadly virus at any time, the silence of the
administration towards the staff grievances is very much surprising.
As
aware, till now, many parts of Odisha Circle especially in the areas from where
the COVID-19 affected persons are identified viz., Bhubaneswar (Bomikhal,
Suryanagar, BJB Nagar, Goutam Nagar, Madhusudan Nagar, Satyanagar), Bhadrak, Cuttack,
Ganjam, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Kalahandi, etc are now either in lockdown / shut
down condition or have been identified as Containment Zone by the local
administration of the State Govt.
In this context, instead of directing the SPMs/Postmasters,
it is the prime responsibility of the concerned Divisional administration to
coordinate with the Municipal Authority, Fire Brigade and other local bodies
which are well-equipped and given such responsibility with man, machine and
materials for complete sanitization of the Govt. buildings and thus to arrange
for immediate sanitization of all the Post / RMS Offices, Hubs, Depots situated
in those lockdown / shutdown areas or in the Containment Zones
But regretfully, as witnessed, no prompt action
is taken either by the concerned Divisional administration or any pressure is mounted
by the Circle administration to perform such activities in a time bound manner.
As a result, the lives of the poor postal employees are thrown into unnecessary
high risk.
Secondly,
now as declared by the Govt. of Odisha, wearing of mask will be compulsory even
after the lockdown period. As such, every attempt needs to be taken by the administration to supply the necessary preventive materials
(soap, sanitizer, hand-wash, mask, gloves, apron etc) to all Post / RMS Offices
to be kept opened and to all officials brought on duty without any plea. Since
these materials are not available in the local market, the Ministry of Health
and Family Welfare, Govt. of Odisha may be suitably appraised for arranging
adequate supply.
A line of reply on the nature of action taken is highly
solicited.
Expecting
your immediate action to contain the spread of COVID-19.
With
regards.
Yours faithfully,
(Bruhaspati Samal)
Circle Secretary &
Leader, RJCM (Staff Side), Odisha
