Abul
Hasan, MTS Group-C Foreign Post, Kolakata
who was admitted in R G Kar Medical
College & Hospital, Kolkata with high fever and breathing troubles on 14.04.2020
was tested positive for COVID-19 by School of Tropical Medicines, Kolkatta. While
undergoing treatment in the said Hospital Abul Hasan expired at 8.20 AM on 18.04.2020.
The dead body of Mr. Hasan was not handed over to his family members and was buried
in Bagmari grave yard by the State. Govt. authorities Consequently his family
members were sent to quarantine.

family members of Mr. Hasan.
Let the departed soul
rest in eternal peace.
Now, the unfortunate death of Abul Hasan due to COVID-19
infection is a big blow to all the members of the postal family of West Bengal Circle.
In particular, this incident has shaken all section of staff members of Kolkata
Foreign Post. Prior to admission in R G Kar Hospital, Abul Hasan had attended his duty at Kolkata Foreign
Post on 30.03.2020, 31.03.2020 and 01.04.2020.
Under the circumstances, Postal JCA (NFPE &
FNPO), West Bengal Circle has appealed the
Chief Postmaster General, W B Circle to take following measures on an urgent basis
towards safety and security of other staff of Kolkata Foreign Post and to take
all preventive measures to contain further spreading of COVID-19 from Kolkata Foreign
Post.
1.
Kolkata Foreign
Post should be closed as of now and arrangements should be made towards ‘Home Quarantine’
of each and every staff of Kolkata Foreign Post.
2.
Immediate sanitization
of Kolkata Foreign Post building and its premises.
3.
Immediate arrangement
towards rapid test for ‘COVID-19 infection’ in respect of each and every staff of
Kolkata Foreign Post.
4.
Suitable
measures may be taken in respect of Kolkata RMS and Kolkata APS which are
directly linked to Kolkata Foreign Post.
