In case of illness:
If a staff member believes they may have COVID-19, they must immediately report this to their supervisor, call one of the following hotlines, and leave the office:
Inselspital (Berne University Hospital) emergency line: 031 632 24 02
Sonnenhofklinik (nearest clinic to the UPU): 031 358 11 11
Swiss national coronavirus hotline (operating hours: daily, 8.00–18.00):
  • For the public: 058 463 00 00
  • For travellers: 058 464 44 88
If a staff member believes they have been in contact with an infected person, they must stay home, contact their supervisor, and call the national hotline.
We ask all staff experiencing a fever, cough or breathing difficulties to remain at home and inform their supervisor.
Preventing the spread of viruses
We invite all staff to:
  • Clean their hands frequently with soap and water (40–60 seconds) or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (20–30 seconds);
  • Cover their mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing; and
  • Refrain from traditional forms of greetings that involve touching the other person, such as handshakes.
All staff should support cleaning services by contributing to the cleanliness of the workplace, including shared spaces.
