Chief Postmaster General
Odisha Circle, Bhubaneswar – 751 009
Sub:- Preventive Measures in connection with Novel
Corona Virus (COVID-19) - reg
Respected
Sir,
This
has kind reference to this Circle Union letter No. P3NFPE-Odisha/04
- 03/2020, dated 16.03.2020 on the above subject. Though our letter has been
acknowledged, the nature of action taken on the points raised by us has not yet
been communicated.
While COVID-19 is spreading rapidly, not a single
post office has neither yet been supplied with the essential hygienic materials
like hand wash, sanitizer, mask, gloves etc nor the SPMs/Postmasters have been
sanctioned with any amount for purchase of such items.
As brought to our notice, only SPOs, Aska
Division has sanctioned Rs.500/-, Rs.300/- and Rs.200/- to each HO, ‘A’ Class
and ‘B’/’C’ Class offices respectively with clear instruction to all concerned.
No such instruction has yet been issued by any other Divisional Head.
Therefore, it is requested kindly to instruct
all Regional / Divisional / Unit heads to cooperate with the postal employees
working in grass root level especially the Counter PAs and all delivery staff
including PA, Postman and GDS who are directly coming in contact with hundreds of customers daily and handling
both inland and foreign mails coming with dusts and unknown virus.
The
issue may also be taken with Ministry of Health, Govt. of Odisha with request
to arrange supply of preventive hygienic materials (now not
easily available in the open market) to all Divisional heads for distribution
to the post offices.
This may kindly be considered with priority Sir.
Your kind response on the nature of action taken
is highly solicited.
With regards.
Yours faithfully,
(Bruhaspati Samal)
Circle Secretary
