Circle Union writes to the Chief PMG, Odisha and NFPE regarding Deputation of Postal employees on Election Duty

No. P3NFPE-Odisha/06 - 09/2018
Dated at Cuttack the 10th September, 2018
To
Dr. S K Kamila, IPoS
Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle
Bhubaneswar – 751 001

Sub:-  Deputation of Postal employees on Election Duty – reg.

Respected Sir,
It has come to the notice of this Circle Union that the Collector and District Election Officer, Cuttack has directly asked to each individual Postmaster / SPM in the district of Cuttack vide his letter No. V-03/2018-382/Elec, dated 19.07.2018 for supplying detail information of  all regular / contractual officers / employees / staff of the post office concerned in a prescribed proforma for preparation of a database .

The scanned copy of one such letter accompanied with its enclosures is attached here with for kind reference. This might be the situation in all other districts of Odisha.

In this context, it is needless to state that since Post Office is an operative office providing regular counter services directly to the members of public, deputation of postal employees on election duty may lead to closure of post offices inviting public resentment.

Therefore, this Circle Union would like to request you for kind appraisal to the State Election Commission, Odisha for instructing all DEOs to exempt the postal employees from attending election duties.

A line of reply on the action taken in the matter is highly solicited.

Awaiting your kind cooperation, Sir.

With regards.
Encls.- As above
Yours faithfully,

(BRUHASPATI  SAMAL)
Circle Secretary
