Sub:-  Appeal for donation to Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to help the ‘Fani’ affected people of the State.

Dear Comrades,

As aware, the severe cyclonic storm Fani or the 'Hood of Snake' tore through the state of Odisha, becoming of the worst storm to hit the country since 1999. The cyclone brought winds of more than 250 kmph when it made landfall near Puri on May 3. The storm caused several deaths, demolished 508467 houses and affected 1.5 crore people and 8739757 animals  of 16659 villages  in 159 blocks and 52 Urban Local bodies of 14 districts and rendered millions of people homeless in the cities of Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Khurda. The cyclone left a trail of devastation in large parts of coastal Odisha, with the seaside areas being the worst hit. 

It is needless to mention here that since the Super Cyclone on 29^th October, 1999, the State of Odisha has been severally affected by cyclonic storms namely Philine on 14^th October, 2013, Hudhud on 12^th October, 2014, Titli on 11^th October, 2018 and now Fani on 3^rd May, 2019.

To rebuild Odisha and to help the FANI affected people, our Hon’ble Chief Minister of  Odisha has appealed  to the citizens, Central / State Govt. Organizations / Undertakings, Corporate / Industrial / Commercial houses, Charitable trusts, Banks and other financial institutions to donate generously to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund. 

Thus, it is our moral responsibility to stand by the people of Odisha and to donate generously for the purpose.

In this context, it is proud moment for us to remind that due all your cooperation and contribution, NFPE, Odisha State CoC has already set an example in contributing a sum of Rs.207000/- to Kerala Chief Minister’s Relief Fund when the people of Kerala were in the grip of unprecedented flood havoc during August, 2018.

Hope, this time we will not be lagging behind for our own people.

Can we suggest the unaffected staff members to sacrifice one day salary to rebuild Odisha? We may not be misunderstood for giving such a proposal since we feel that we can. Of course, we leave it to each individual staff member to decide and take a right decision for donating generously as per their own interest.

 Under the situation, we would like to sincerely appeal you to motivate our staff members to contribute generously for the purpose. It is suggested that the Divisional Secretaries may collect such donations from their members and deposit at a time in  the Circle Union’s P O S B Account No. 4415657125  (Standing jointly in the name of B Samal, Circle Secretary and Lingaraj Sahoo, Financial Secretary in Sahidnagar MDG, Bhubaneswar – 751 007, SOL Id : 75100701) so that the total amount collected as such can be handed over at a time.
