"I wish to express my sincere condolences to the people of the United States of America on the passing of President George H.W. Bush.
He will be warmly remembered for his dedication to international public service having served as both a US Ambassador to the United Nations and a Special Envoy appointed by the UN Secretary-General.
The UPU community will look back fondly on the time he welcomed representatives from the world’s Posts to Washington, D.C., for the 20th Universal Postal Congress. It was there he shared these encouraging words for the postal sector: “Yours is a noble profession, for through your efforts, the written word stirs the imagination, improves the human condition and touches the heart.”
These words live on with his memory."
