This year, the theme for the international day is #choosetochallenge.
I wholeheartedly support the work undertaken by the United Nations System—especially UN Women—to ensure that women and girls have equal rights and opportunities.
Gender equality is also a fundamental element of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In the international postal sector, change is also taking place.
Women are increasingly contributing their experiences and skills to the sector.
Whether as the head of a postal operator, working in the sorting offices or delivering mail, women are bringing their immense enthusiasm and dedication to postal operations.
We all benefit from this positive trend.
At the Universal Postal Union (the UPU) our aim is to continue the vital work of promoting an inclusive environment that recognizes and celebrates every woman’s achievements.
I believe we work best when we work together.
On International Women’s Day, I encourage everyone in the international postal sector to join me in these essential efforts.
