Respected Sir,
It has come to the notice of this Circle Union that different divisions in Odisha Circle have extended the working hours in complete violation of the instructions contained in Directorate’s letter referred to above (Copy attached) read with Clause – 5 of P O Guide Part – I.

As instructed, the  business hours in Post Offices shall be fixed as follows.

For reference and enquiries, sale of postage stamps and stationery
During entire working hours of the office
For booking of registered and insured articles including value payable articles and parcels
For about six to seven hours (On Saturdays usually  five hours stopping at 3 PM)
For issue of Money Orders, Sale and Payment of Postal Orders, Savings Bank and Post Office Certificate transactions and payment of telephone bills etc
For about five hours (On Saturdays usually  three hours stopping at 1 PM)

But as witnessed, many Divisional Heads in Odisha Circle have extended the business hours including Savings Bank transactions up to seven hours out of 8 hours which violates the above instructions.

Therefore, it is requested kindly to issue immediate necessary instructions to all Divisional Heads to restrict the working hours of the post offices strictly adhering to the guidelines as per Clause – 5 of P O Guide Part – I and as instructed in Directorate’s letter referred to above.

With regards.
 Yours faithfully,
